which it turns out are the perfect conditions
to be tucked up in the Studio

creating our own storms

which we'll be back

One of Those Weekends

Last week was one of those weeks
with a lot of tail chasing
and only a little treasure rescuing

Vintage Tablecloth & Broadhurst China

thankgoodness for fmsphotoaday
at least I have one reason everyday
to stay focused

Day6 :: From Down Low

and knowing Mothers Day
was going to kick off one day early for me
with a road trip to the country with my girls
meant it was going to be one of those rare weekends
where domestic duties took a back seat
[in my dreams!

Mothers Day treasure found in country op shops

Mothers Day morning was a special treat
when Rebecca came to share tea & scones in the garden
and we told tales of parenting experiences
as only mothers with 100yrs of memories can

and then in the afternoon
my favourite teenager
made her best ever Anzac Biscuits
and graciously shared some of her precious book reading time with me
over a cuppa in the garden

….and now it's a new week
 bursting with many possibilities
some of which could involve
the finishing of a Jumper Wrap
and the beginning of a new vintage bedspread inspired Dressing Gown.

Hope your Mothers Day was special
and that your week has kicked off bursting with possibilities. x

Making :: Jumper Wraps

Before I snuck off to visit Regina last week

and with a few hours up my sleeve on the morning of departure
I gave myself a challenge

make 2 Jumper Wraps for the trip

and if it hadn't been for the need
to eat, shower & pack for the trip
I'd have finished them both
as it was my 7kg luggage allowance was straining under the pressure
and it would have meant choosing between the hairdryer and a wrap
- no competition!

The technique used to create every Jumper Wrap
is the same
and every Jumper Wrap that is created
is different

I'd never have thought I'd wear a red 'knitted dress'
but there you go
never.say.never

I love it

the other one
is a favourite
and not just because it's green

it's going to go with everything in my wardrobe

and while I'm on a roll
with momentum fired up
I've started another...

Instagram - Doing it Anyway

I put a call out on FaceBook
a couple of weeks ago
asking
"could someone please explain why I should do Instagram?"

my friend Denise came back with
"just do it!"

so I did
[Denise is my font of all internet connection knowledge]

I then joined this group
in the hope it would make more sense
if I got to practice my Instagramming everyday

I'm now [almost] a fan
taking & editing photos with the Instagram app
sharing them with a whole heap of strangers
some of which take these monthly photographic challenges very seriously

so far I've missed one day, today [Day5]
 - turns out 4pm round here is blah
and the shot of tonights dinner,
homemade roast pumpkin & bacon soup

looked decidedly unappetising

I'm already pre-empting certain days...
looking forward to sharing day No.8
however No.18 is going to be a challenge

I still don't know what I'm doing
but I'm doing it anyway …

if you want to follow me on this journey [for as long as it lasts]

A Remarkable Friend

I've a friend,
 Regina
and she's remarkable

'Remarkable Regina'

not just because of her text book Leo characteristics
awesome parenting skills,
fierce loyalty, patience & passion for those whom she loves
or
because we both love exactly the same things

food

shopping

and Melbourne

Regina is courageously creative
with an ability to turn wire & found objects
into whatever takes her fancy

during a recent, very brief visit to her home in Sth Gippsland, Victoria
I took the opportunity to snap a few shots in her Studio

Reginas natural talent, focus & drive
is evident by the eclectic range of creative objects
which emerge from her backyard studio

eccentric jewellery

to fascinating Chandeliers

which occasionally make their way to art shows and exhibitions

The Dragon Lady Chandelier

if you happen to find yourself in the presence of one of her masterpieces
and she's in the room
give her a hug from me.
