REtreat pt2 - The Splice Girls

During the REtreat
Lara & Vicky held hands
while they created their Splice Skirts.

Lara's a veteran Splice Girl.
Lara walked in on day1 wearing her latest Splice Skirt
and arrived with the makings for her 4th.

Vicky was excited to get started on her first.

With only one drama which turned out to be a hiccup in diguise
 they worked through the processes
throughout the day & into the night
and before retiring both skirts got a quick rinse & were hung to do their thing

ready for wearing the next day.

Having spoken to Vicky since our return
it's no surprise that number 2 Splice Skirt is cut out & is ready to go.

The 2013 Sewing Sleep-over - Pt1

Well that was fun!
Lara & Vicky

Not sure how to put in words just how much fun was had at the
 third Busselton Sewing REtreat/Sleep-over

so I'll let the pictures do most of the talking

and

beware it's going to take

a couple of Posts to share what we got up to.

Lara secretly created crochet love hearts for us all.

On Thursday avo
once we'd disembarked & unpacked from our two-&-a-bit-hour drive south

we started slowly

with a bit of hand flipperying, crochet & sock show-&-tell

Judiths

For some reason I didn't take one photo of the
gluten free vegetarian meals I'd prepared for the 3days
however
I did have the foresight to get shots of our empties....

Friday morning saw us out the door & on the streets of Busselton
in time for the first Oppy on our list to open it's doors

just a little bit excited

we were.

l-r Vicky, Bree, Lara, Judith, Pene, Kate, Jody, Sue
We all managed to find & rescue some op shop bargains & treasure

and isn't it interesting the treasure we're drawn to...
while most would have walked straight past this book

Judith didn't

and now
we all know Sally Brown's a genius

if you see a copy grab it
it's hilarious & enlightening at the same time.

It didn't take us long before we were looking for refreshments

before hitting a few more oppies

before heading home

for Brees cake[s]

they were good
they were very very good

in fact they were so good
some enjoyed them with breakfast the next day.

Everyone found their spot at the table
and their creative mojo very quickly

with a whole lot of
REinventing,
creating from the Sew Outside the Lines™ & other patterns
making our own patterns from favourite garments
happening in a flurry of fabric, scissors & vylene

we also
discovered a whole lot of stuff about each other
and ourselves

and at the end of it all
on Sunday morning
we had filled the rack to bursting.

I'll be popping back in over the next few days
to share what the girls created...
and my rescued Op Shop treasures.

It's a Sign

Sometimes when I'm looking I'll miss them
and when I'm not looking I'll be tripping over them...

occasionally the messages in the signs are subtle
and I'll choose to ignore them

other times they're a whack across the head
[usually because I've ignored them for too long]

there's been a few whacks across the head lately
so I've decided to start taking notice

I've been thinking about letting my Meme
JaM
go for a while
so when I saw this T-shirt in the shopping centre
I took it as a sign.

Would You be so Kind?

Can you help???

One of the features on my new Website
will be a free E-Book when you sign up for the Newsletter

and

I need to come up with 3 [or4] projects that would appeal

here's a glimpse of the projects I'm thinking of

and if you'd be so kind as to either pop over here & vote on your favourite
or leave a comment below

I'd be mightily chuffed. x

Paper Bag Shirt Skirt - simple REinvention.

Doilied T - simple REfashion

Hemming -  2ways

The Winged Doona - REfashion a Queen size into the perfect Single size

Second Skin - REcover a vintage Mannequin

and there's two others I'm thinking of
which I've not had time to sample

 Cape[able] - REinventing pants into a Cape
or
Skirt Top - REinventing a skirt into a Top

thankyou so much
now I might be able to get some sleep...

JaM - Falling in Love

JaM - a place to gather for just a moment once a week to share what we've been up to.

I'm back from the best week ever

a whole 7days

of falling in love

with some of the most spectacular country in the country
two of the most extraordinary people in my life
and a new camera with a-whole-lot-of-fun Panorama Setting

This was one of those rare opportunities
you grab with both hands hold on tight and don't stop til you're over the finish line

with Dan working away, my workshop schedule, school & child related commitments
time is not always our own
so when we recognised we could combine a holiday with getting Dan to work on time
we did

Freo - Albany - Bremer Bay - Esperance - Kalgoorlie.

There were lots of beaches

sometimes we shared

and sometimes we didn't

and sometimes a bit of REfashioning got done.

Some of the trip was steeped in history

with plenty of Op Shop rescuing opportunities found along the way

although sadly not all were as accommodating as others.

There were so many priceless moments

with the best bits being the slowing down & soaking it up

and watching these two REconnect.

Now we're trying to work out how we can do it all again [soon]

cos what's not to love about making time to spend time with those you love.

Have you fallen-in-love these holidays....
