Reginas house burnt down!

Regina rang yesterday afternoon from Boolarra, just after her brother gave them the news. They literally own what they're wearing and a few baby photos. They're safe. In shock.
The latest news this morning is for more high temperatures and for more homes to go. It was 15 homes gone on the news this morning.
Regina is one of the strongest pragmatic people on the planet and she will get her family through this smiling through the tears to the other side. A long journey but like she said yesterday "we can rebuild, bigger and better", and I can hear little Jas in the back ground saying "with a pool!".

Sewn Details

OMG! I've started a Group - Sewn Details.
1. 'cause it's nice to share.
2. I find it's the details that inspire me & maybe it does and will do the same for others.
Apparently there is a magazine out there that does the same thing which I've heard about however never been able to find.
I'll have some exciting things to report soon regards sewing workshops, magazine articles & fashion parades...which I'll know more about in a week or two when the talking is done & I actually turn around and plug a sewing machine in!

Sheets of pre-historic sandstone that have crashed onto the beach over millenia, stacked one on top the other looking like layers & layers of very old lace.

Breathtaking...
it's hard to portray the impact of these cliffs in a photo, you'll have to come to Hamelin Bay and experience them yourself!

My Christmas present to Mum (stripey apron) & Melanie (checked apron holding lemon)...I'm stirring the Tamarind Sauce.

It was loads of fun, informative and very yummy!

No-Pattern Waterfall Skirt

...this takes refashioning to a whole new level...all I needed was a length of Op-shop sourced fabric (in my favourite colour!), a re-used invisible zip (I had filed), a little imagination (free-hand machine embroidery) and a few hours (I had up my sleeve)!

This was my Christmas Day Skirt. There's a photo on 'Re-invented Garments' of Veronica in the one she made during the last lot of workshops. Personally I love no-pattern sewing as I find it sooooo very liberating however I do realise the importance of commercial patterns in others sewing and this is why I am going to offer 'Playing with Patterns' during 1st Term at The George.

We're away as of tomorrow for 8days of sun, sand, surf & sleeping in which time I will recharge and be back ready for whatever awaits!
