I Made Something....you might like it.

I loved creating my latest REinvention

as soon as I slid the rose crusted linen skirt off the op-shop rack,
 regardless of the too-small size,

I knew it was coming home with me

initially I thought a skirt REfashion
however I would have lost the gorgeous weighty feel & fall of the fabric
along with a row or two of the roses
which would have been tragic

so instead I opted for an Apron Frock

and by folding

manipulating

cutting

and stitching

I combined
a too-small linen skirt
with a too-big linen top
& edged using contrasting continuous cotton apron ties
while retaining & highlighting existing raw edges

to create
a garment I would love to keep

but can't fit in the wardrobe

so I'm letting this one go

and because I have no idea if anyone would even be interested in owning one of my pieces
I am offering it up to the highest bidder.

Anna Chandler embellished jeans and Rebecca Cools painted ones, with mine just visible in the background.
Reb has also REfashioned a skirt using soft toys - you can see it hanging in the foreground.

High Tea with Vicki at Bindaring

They were a labour of love.
I'm not sure I like them - I liked the idea of them more.
Working out in my head what was necessary in order to make a wearable garment ie. flat doilies along the inside leg, was the easy part.
I'm no artist and embellishing for the sake of it doesn't come naturally to me, so it meant I had to think hard about what I was doing which made my head hurt.
I love a challenge!
If you thought they look good enough to own/wear these details might interest you;
'Tea with Vicki' Jeans

Victoria Beckham Size 28
Embellished (securely stitched) with vintage lace & embroidered Doilies
Lace Doily printing in pink & white
Denim cut-away around the hem to reveal stitched Doily hem edge.

As I was attempting to 'play' with the jeans I had a REinvention ticking away in the back of my mind - more cut & paste than lick & stick.

The High Tea Jacket was a more comfortable design process for me.
Right from the start
she fell into place.
Again, if you thought you might like this for your own here are the details;
'High Tea' Jacket

Size M-L (12-16)
Fully lined Jacket REinvented with denim jacket sleeves.
Cropped with denim frill and vintage lace trim.
Vintage Doily & denim Bustle
&
Machine embroidered Lace Brooch.

They're now in the hands of the powers-that-be, to be auctioned to the highest bidder on Saturday 22nd May.
