The youngest is 12
and in her last year of Primary School
and in her last year of Primary School
she's always had her sights set on a particular High School which offers a fantastic range of Academic & Art focused Specialist Programs
and because it's not in our school zone
the only way for her to gain access to this top ranked secondary school was
if we sold up & moved
if we sold up & moved
or she produced a jaw-dropping-knock-their-socks-off Portfolio
so she set about doing just that
armed with a borrowed camera & tripod and little-to-no knowledge of movie making
armed with a borrowed camera & tripod and little-to-no knowledge of movie making
and it worked
this is one of the short stop-go movies she created which got her in....
to say we're proud is an understatement
I don't talk much about family stuff on here
and if it wasn't for the fact that Stella shot this in my sewing Studio
using my REinventing Samples
using my REinventing Samples
I wouldn't be sharing the video
in doing so I'd also like to share that
the road to this point has been paved with pot holes
even though this child was born with a smile on her face
[I know this because you only see her dimple when she smiles]
she has suffered her own demons over the past few years
and to see her take control of her destiny
and set her own course is all we could have hoped for
and
to say we're proud
is an understatement.
is an understatement.
Everyone in our house thinks it is awesome....well done Stella and all the best with your new exciting adventure....I am sure you will go far! xx
ReplyDeleteOh this just makes my heart sing! I love to see the creativity of kids and the awesome things they produce. I teach 11 and 12 year olds and every day their awesomeness just makes my jaw drop. They have no fear - they think they can do anything. And they usually can! I'm showing Stella's movie to all my classes today - congrats on making it into the high school of her choice, I know what a big deal that is.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! that is just brilliant. you are going to bowl them over at that school!!! Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteYou should be proud Jody and I know just how you feel. My daughter put a Photography portfolio together the last weeks of year 12 because she decided she wanted to study photography at Uni. So many said it was a waste of time, but she went ahead and did it and managed to get offers from two unis. Well done Stella, I'm sure there are great things ahead for you. xx
ReplyDeleteWell done Stella it's absolutely brilliant you will get what you want cos it looks like you know what you want.
