REinventing Rubble & the Great Pocket Dilemma

Waste not want not
is another great motto for REinventing

and my newest creation is proof of that.

The 100% linen fabric was bought a while back and was REdiscovered when I did that big tidy

and because it was expensive imported Italian linen,
at the time I could only justify purchasing 1.5m.

Every scrap of the fabric went into the body & straps
and with nothing suitable by way of Bias Binding in my collection
I settled on using a favourite 'filed' skirt...

I didn't think to take photos until I'd already DEconstructed ready for salvaging.

The interesting pleated hem & shaped pocket were removed due to their REinventing potential,
an invisible zip is always a handy thing
and the body of the skirt was destined for Bias Binding.

I had intended on only adding the Bias Binding
keeping the other bits for another day
however the shaped hem was too good to resist

but I'm not too sure about the pocket

what do you think - with or without?!

  5. Ok, so I'm really loving it both ways Jody! Without coz the pleated hem can carry the look on it's own I think, but also love with the pocket! Always an advocate of make it different/unusual, I'd adore it with the pocket. Sorry, not much help hey? Lovely fabric! ♥

  6. love the dress, i really like the pocket, do you think it might look better on the side of the dress, along the side seam and angled so that the point of the bottom of the pocket is pointing down, maybe put the pocket a bit lower down on the dress? dunno, just a suggestion! it's gorgeous either way!

  7. I love the pocket but agree it would be better with two, but it looks just as good without any.

  9. Love the pocket because it adds interest and makes the dress look unique and more you. Without the pocket it just looks nice but not interesting. Two pockets is asymmetrical and boring!

  10. Without is normal. With is exciting. I have to say that I get really annoyed with clothes that have no pockets - so go pocket I say!!

  11. Love the dress. Love the one pocket, but I am a pocket gal and I'm more than happy with just one pocket
