JaM - What does your Button Tin say about you?

JaM - a place to gather for just a moment once a week to share what we've been up to.

Dan heads out early most Sunday mornings
in search of treasure

returning after a couple of hours & three Swap Meets
most times with boy treasure
tools, bike parts, plants

this morning he returned with my kind of treasure

someones prized Button Tin

full-to-bursting with bits & pieces

mostly buttons
with a scattering of other saved treasure

the dis-used, un-used pieces to many stories

bits that don't belong to anything anymore.

This Tin would have been a beautiful Tin in its prime
and considering it's been a home to years, possibly generations of salvaged stuff,
it suits its dented edges & worn patina .

If you're a button-lover
I know you'll understand the sheer delight I took at the meer thought of sorting through the contents
and while doing so I wondered what the contents might reveal about their previous owners

I wondered who was it that decided these arms were worth hanging onto

why were there only one each of these heavy sparkly glass buttons
and what happened to the perfume bottle the stopper had belonged to

what was wound up & unlocked with these Keys
and what was SO good about this white coloured pencil
that it was sharpened to within an inch of its life.

 who wore this jewellery
and when did the owner of the crystal earring notice she'd lost one

There were children in this family
as evidenced by the doll arms & tin train wheels
and these cute vintage animal buttons

vintage red buttons are not easy to find these days
so I was thrilled to see they featured amongst the contents
and with a clean they'll look good on anything

shell buttons are always handy....for Change of Heart Skirts

and these weighty pewter floral buttons
are a novelty destined for something grand.

As neglected as this Tin appears
it also has a much loved & well used feel
and because it safely stored someones story so well for so long
I am very happy to welcome it to its new home.

I'm actually linking up with JaM this week believe it or not! Don't fall away with surprise! lol. I put my post up on Friday night but figured it was a bit late for the previous JaM so have waited for this one. Thanks for still having it. ♥
