Did anyone else have a Bride Doll
a Barbie dressed as a Bride doesn't count...
My dolls name was Florence and my sisters
Mum created the entire outfit which included the satin embroidered dress, veil with roses, wrist corsage, knickers, vest, petticoat, socks & shoes. She also made a matching outfit for Barbara.
I don't think mum had visions of us using Florence or Barbara as role models as she was always encouraging us to travel....
worked for me.
OOh, YES, I am the eldest of four girls, and we all had bride dolls.
ReplyDeleteIn our family we were all given a Special teddy bear on our first birthday, and a Bride Doll on our 6th birthdays.
Don't really know why, but they were certainly treasured, in fact I am 50 years old and I confess I still have both my teddy and my bride doll. Ours were bought dolls, except I think I remember my youngest sister having a doll dressed by Mum's exquisite sewing skills. The brides were exempt from the usual dressing and undressing of our dolls - it wasn't seemly :)
