This is some of the treasure I've been finding lately.
Sometimes I know exactly what I'm going to do with the treasure I find
and then there's times I don't.
These vintage plates will make gorgeous Cake Stands
and the tea strainer works.
I'm going to call this a Crochet Bag cos that's what I'm using it for at the moment.
It was a given that 5m of very wide vintage cotton ticking for $6
was going to come home with me
and I can see that beautiful Braid used in bags.
I'm not a follower of fashion or a lover of labels
however when I see a silk Emanuel Ungara cardy for $3
I'll ignore that the colour makes me look I like died a week ago
and I'll bring it home cos I could dye it....
or not.
or not.
Regardless of whether or not I use the two brand new
Laura Ashley Queen Size Doona Covers
as Doona Covers
I've now got a lot of beautiful quality cotton fabric
perfect for any homewares project I should want to undertake.

Sometimes treasure needs rescuing.
I've no idea the history behind this piece of framed embroidery
however it was obviously important enough to someone
to have it framed...
any ideas?
Ooh we saw the doona set! I need to learn to think outside the lines a bit better!
ReplyDeleteOh my, those plates sure are lovely. Is the pastel pink one a Johnson of Australia, if it is they must be pretty rare around the op-shops because I've only ever seen maybe one or two. You are lucky finding it.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a find in that silk cardi.

Is there a treasure rescuer society that we can join? If not you should start one...the world needs more of us to rescue those beauties destined for more than sitting in dull old op shops.....great finds. xx
ReplyDeleteI really need to find an Op Shop or two like yours. We don't get treasures like that in the ones I go to! Love the plates and that tea strainer is perfect. x
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds! I so love that ticking!
ReplyDeletee: the framed picture, is it a school or college blazer pocket perhaps? a friend has a similar item that was her dad's school sports team blazer pocket.

What fantastic finds! Love the doona covers - love to see what you create out of them!
ReplyDeleteoh! You and I op-shop in JUST the same way!
ReplyDeleteI am always taking home treasures like those, to liberate, upcycle or just to 'curate' them
OMG Jody! Op shop envy big time! Agreeing with the other ladies, and love it all so much. The shops around here definitely don't have goodies like those!
ReplyDeleteand agree with Linda, it does look a lot like a blazer pocket. Given the embroidered years I see on it, maybe part of a trophy/award that was won each year ♥
