Be careful what you wish for!

Dan always wanted a Mercedes.

At 5:30 this morning we had one arrive via our front fence and gates.
No-one was hurt but my beautiful red gate is smashed to smithereens!

Two young blokes sitting in the front, off their faces (he blew .15), driver un-licensed reckons "I was driving really well until I blinked".

The tyre marks indicate he was traveling backwards at an angle across the verge. There's no evidence of any braking, rather it was the fence, gates and posts that stopped him.

He hit them so hard the badges on the back of the Merc flew off into the scrub!

Dans car is also worse off for the experience, damaged by flying debris and showered with dirt. There was a foot of dirt and debris in the trailer even before we started cleaning up!

We know it could have been worse, there are a thousand scenarios that keep playing out in your head...what if Steves new twin cab ute had still been parked on the verge....what if someone had been walking past....what if they'd hit it front on - YUK!

If all I've got to lament is my once beautiful now smashed to smithereens red gate it's a good day!

UP-DATE
It turns out there could be a casualty - they ran over my red flowering gum sapling and striped it of most of its foliage - but it's still standing, so fingers crossed for a full recovery!

  2. the million dollar question is....

WHO GETS TO PAY FOR ALL THIS?!

His insurance would be void that far over the limit, wouldn't it?

Not as banged up as the bloke driving is going to be when he tells his friend what he did to his car - while he was asleep!

    Shula

Claiming on the insurance isn't an issue as we weren't at fault, in saying that our Excess is going to sting.
